COLUMBIA, Ky. – It's a 1-0 start for the Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team in dual action as it beat NCAA Div. II King (Tenn.) College 130-97 in the season opener on Saturday at the Holloway Health and Wellness Center Natatorium.
The team added to its success by also qualifying a pair of relays for the NAIA National Championships.
The first qualification came in the 200-yard medley relay which saw Logan Wetzel, Johnathan hindman, Corey Hall and Luke Johnson take first place with a time of one minute and 44.68 seconds.
Luke Royal, Shai Cummings, Shelby Stevenson and Hall claimed the other nationals cut in the 200-freestyle relay, finishing first in 1:35.97.
Wetzel continued to impress throughout the meet, earning a pair of top finishes in individual events. He took first place in the 1,000-free with a time of 11:30.71 and was first in the 500-free by touching the wall in 5:12.73.
Other swimmers with first-place finishes include Johnson in the 200-free (1:54), Hindman in the 100-breast (1:04.07) and Royal in the 50-free (23.50). Hall wrapped up the top finishes for the men in the 100-butterfly with a showing of 56.17 seconds.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Oct. 13 at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
