COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team had little trouble in its first home tri-meet of the season, topping Campbellsville (Ky.) 94-8 and St. Catharine (Ky.) 98-7 on Saturday afternoon at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center.
Shelby Stevenson got the Blue Raiders off to a good start with a win in the 1,000-meter freestyle. Stevenson touched first in 11 minutes and 34.05 seconds. Luke Royal won in an exciting finish in the 100-backstroke, beating a Campbellsville swimmer by just over a second with a time of 58 seconds flat.
Jonathan Hindman cruised to a win in the 100-breastsroke, beating the nearest competition by 12 seconds with a showing of 1:03.25. Hindman won in a closer race in the 50-free, clocking in at 24.11 seconds, just in front of the Tigers' Jeff Brown touching in 24.82 seconds.
There was a tight finish between a pair of Blue Raiders in the 100-free as Royal claimed the win in 51.18 seconds and Luke Johnson finished second in 51.99 seconds. Logan Wetzel blew away the competition in the 500-free, winning by over 25 seconds with a time of 5:06.40.
Johnson wrapped up the individual wins for Lindsey Wilson in the 200-Individual Medley where he touched in 2:13.04 and Corey Hall finished second in 2:17.22.
In the third part of the tri-meet, Campbellsville picked up a win against St. Catharine, winning 23-15.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the pool at 6:30 p.m. CT on Nov. 2 at Asbury (Ky.).
