GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's swimming team produced another outstanding day on Saturday and finished with 218 points over the two days at the Brenau (Ga.) University Invitational.
The Blue Raiders finished fifth overall, but more importantly, recorded five more national championship standards on Saturday to complete the successful weekend.
Kate Spaulding posted two of the Blue Raiders' A standards with her times in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Spaulding finished fifth in the 32-woman 100 breast with a time of one minute and 11.28 seconds -- just under the 1:11.39 national standard.
In the 200 breast, she qualified for the national championships by more than a second as she touched the wall in 2:34.58. Spaulding finished sixth in the event.
Elena Nikolaeva provided the final A standard of the day for the Blue Raiders in the 400 IM. After posting a top-10 finish in the 200 IM on Friday, Nikolaeva was at it again in the 400 posting a fourth place finish. Her time of 4:56.61 is four seconds under the national standard.
Sarah Wood and Kelsey Marshall posted B standards on Saturday.
Wood competed in the 1,650 free and met the standard with a time of 19:37.56. Marshall finished the 200 breast in 2:37.66 to add a fifth national standard on the day.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday, Dec. 1 as they travel to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg.
