MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's swimming team won all but one event today in a 65-26 win over host Rhodes (Tenn.) College on Sunday.
In addition to the team win, the Blue Raider 400-yard medley relay team earned an A Standard to qualify for the national championships in March. The national standards are set by the NAIA for each event to determine who earns a berth into the national championships.
The quartet of Luke Royal, Jonathan Hindman, Corey Hall and Luke Johnson opened the meet in style in the 400 medley relay with a time of three minutes and 50.62 seconds. The time was nearly seven seconds under the national A Standard.
The win began a streak for the Blue Raiders that nearly lasted the entire meet. Rhodes managed to win just the 200 freestyle relay -- the final race of the day -- after the Blue Raiders were disqualified in the event.
Royal, Hall and Luke Wetzel each captured two individual wins today.
Royal won the 50 freestyle (23.62) and the 100 freestyle (50.74) while Hall captured the 200 IM (2:12.23) and the 100 butterfly (57.15). Wetzel touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (1:54.13) and the 500 freestyle (5:09.70).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 10 as the Blue Raiders host duals against Campbellsville (Ky.) University and Union (Ky.) College at the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center.
