Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Four Blue Raiders reached double figures as the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team used balanced scoring a pressure defense to take down Miami Hamilton 86-40 on Saturday in Biggers Sports Center.
Jasmine Brimm led all scorers with 18 points, while Sarah Collins had 13 points and seven rebounds and Ashley Rainey added 12 points and seven boards.
Miami Hamilton had just one player reach double figures as Taylor Frazier posted team highs of 13 points and eight rebounds.
Behind 14 first-half points from Brimm, the Blue Raiders shot out to a 49-19 lead by the end of the first half. Utilizing a zone press for the entirety of the frame, Lindsey Wilson forced the Harriers into 17 turnovers with just five assists.
Rainey, many times a threat for a double-double by the half, played the role of distributor, dishing out five first-half assists to go along with eight points and three steals.
The Harriers entered the game undefeated at 10-0 and were beating teams by an average 32.4 points, but Lindsey Wilson starting the game red hot from the field was too much for them to handle.
Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line, while the Harriers struggled at 32.6 percent from the field. Miami Hamilton scored over half its points from the paint, finishing 0-for-4 from long range.
While the Blue Raiders outscored the competition by 30 in the first half, the Harriers took better control of the ball to lose the second half by just 16. Still, Miami Hamilton turned the ball over 29 times, the most this season for an opponent and dished out just eight assists.
The Blue Raiders stood out on Saturday when they played fast, utilizing a 23-0 advantage on fast-break points and 30-7 scoring advantage off of turnovers.
Lindsey Wilson improves to 10-4 with the win, while Miami Hamilton loses its first game of the season to drop to 10-1.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday with the return to Mid-South Conference play at Shawnee State in Portmouth, Ohio.
