Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Ashley Rainey provided a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, but sixth-ranked Lee (Tenn.) overcame her big night with strong shooting to beat Lindsey Wilson College 71-45 on Saturday at Paul Dana Walker Arena.
The Blue Raiders managed to shoot just 34.8 percent from the field and hit just 4-of-15 shots from 3-point range. The Flames did their damage in the paint, outscoring the Blue Raiders 42-22 down low to finish shooting 48.4 percent from the field.
Only five Lindsey Wilson players scored in the game as Jasmine Brimm and Sarah Gillis each added eight points, Sarah Collins scored six and Kasey Litzinger hit a 3-pointer.
Lee was paced by the two-headed attack of Hollie German and Jenna Adams with 27 and 21 points, respectively. Adams also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
It was a pair of equal halves as far as deficits as Lindsey Wilson was outscored 38-25 in the first and 33-20 in the second. Lee took just four free-throw shots all game, hitting three, while the Blue Raiders were 9-of-15 from the strips.
The Flames controlled the backboards for a 35-30 advantage and forced Lindsey Wilson into 18 turnovers with just 11 assists.
Adams and German both knocked down three 3-pointers each, while Brooke Hamby had four assists and no turnovers. Gillis finished with four assists as well for Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders are back in action at 5 p.m. CT on Dec. 14 against Midway (Ky.) in Campbellsville, Ky., at the Powell Athletic Center.
