MOREHEAD, Ky. -- In a match that took more than six hours to complete, the Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division I Morehead State University 5-3 tonight at the Eagle Center Indoor Courts.

The No 13-ranked Blue Raiders (1-2) fell behind 1-0 after dropping the No. 2 doubles match 8-4. Morehead State's Justin Harlow and David Clifford outlasted Fabricio Morales and Marlon Dal Pont for the win and the early lead.

Lindsey Wilson equaled the match at 1-1 following Fernando Bogajo and Victor Saez's 8-5win at No. 3 doubles over Nathan Martin and Nathan Blum.

Morehead State escaped doubles with a 2-1 lead when Kevin Deligny and Seve Day defeated Pablo Vilches and Gilles Cornelis 8-5 by winning the last three games of the match.

In singles, Bogajo won in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) over Clifford in the top-seeded singles match to tie the team match at 2-2. Lindsey Wilson claimed its first lead of the match when Morales handed Deligny a 7-5, 7-5 loss at No. 2 singles.

But the lead would be short-lived as the Eagles (5-3) won the next three singles matches.

Justin Harlow started the streak with a 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-3 win over Vilches to tie the overall match at 3-3. Morehead's Day pushed the Eagles out in front with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Saez.

The decisive point came from Martin in his 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 win over Cornelis.

Morehead's Hugo Almonte and Dal Pont's match was stopped after the Eagles reached five points.

"I am extremely proud of how hard our guys fought today," Lindsey Wilson tennis coach Daniel Finn said. "They left everything they had on the courts. This will only make us a better team down the line."

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Saturday, Feb. 18 as the Blue Raiders host Western Kentucky University at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
