Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Ashley Rainey's 26 points and 10 rebounds weren't enough as No. 25 Lindsey Wilson College lost to No. 6 Cumberlands (Ky.) 73-65 on Saturday afternoon in Biggers Sports Center. Lauren Wombles paced the Patriots in the win with 25 points.

Wombles was joined in double figures by Jade Howard with 15 points and Haley Ratliff with 14.

Monny Niamke added 13 points and Sarah Gillis tallied 11 for the Blue Raiders as Rainey's 10 boards paced Lindsey Wilson on the glass.

The Patriots kept their lead throughout the game with five 3-pointers and a 22-for-30 effort from the free-throw line. The Blue Raiders, on the other hand, hit just two threes in 18 attempts and were 15-of-22 from the stripe.

Lindsey Wilson did hold an advantage on the boards 34-30, but shooting just 11.1 percent from deep proved the difference as the numbers from the field weren't much different.

Cumberlands finished shooting 46.9 percent from the field, while Lindsey Wilson tallied a 45.3 percent mark.

Lindsey Wilson had a chance to take a lead late, down by just a point, but had two straight turnovers negate the chance. The Blue Raiders finished with 21 turnovers and 12 assists, while Cumberlands lost the ball 22 times with 13 assists.

Cumberlands led by five at halftime and outscored Lindsey Wilson 38-35 in the second half to seal the win.

The Blue Raiders are back in action at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday against West Virginia Tech in Biggers Sports Center.
