Women's Golf Improves 26 Strokes, Finishes Fourth at Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Playing under less windy conditions than Monday's gusty weather, the Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team improved by 26 strokes on Tuesday to shoot a two day total 686 (356-330).

But its competitors improved as well and the Blue Raiders stayed put to finish fourth in the Lee University Spring Invite at the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn.

Host Lee (Tenn.) won its own invite with a 644 (333-311), Shorter (Ga.) finished second with a 659 (337-322) and Cumberlands (Ky.) rounded out the top three carding a 665 (338-327).

While Lee's Courtney Shelton won the individual title with a 158 (81-77) it was Paola Gonzalez leading the way for Lindsey Wilson alone in ninth place with a 166 (87-79).

Kaitlin Allan finished 15th overall with a 169 (86-83) and Kelsey Joslyn (175 (91-84)) and Jennifer MacKinnon (176 (92-84)) finished back-to-back in 20th and 21st place, respectively.

Candace Stacy just made the cut for a top-25 finish, sitting in a tie for 25th place after carding a 182 (94-88).

Lee kept its strong hold of first place by tallying the top three individual finishers and five in the top-10.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on March 22-23 in the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate at the Crooked Creed Golf Club in London, Ky.
