No. 12 Men's Tennis Handles No. 22 Campbellsville 8-1

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- After starting off with a loss at No. 1 doubles, the No. 12 Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team went to work for eight straight wins to top No. 22 Campbellsville (Ky.) 8-1 on Wednesday at the Coca-Cola Tennis Courts in Campbellsville.

Fernando Bogajo and Pablo Vilches came up just short against Carlon Anton and Pablo Numbela in a 9-7 loss, but it was a Blue Raider sweep the rest of the way to claim the Mid-South Conference win against their rival.

Fabricio Morales and Gilles Cornelis won for Lindsey Wilson at No. 2 doubles, beating Sebastian Marot and Pontus Blom 8-3, while Victor Saez and Marlon Dal Pont won 8-2 against Terry Caven and Zac Malyon at No. 3.

Bogajo won first in singles at the No. 1 seed, topping Marot 6-1, 6-2, followed by third-seeded Vilches beating Numbela 6-3, 6-1. Saez clinched the win with the fifth team point after beating Blom 6-2, 6-3.

Morales won the only match to go three sets, topping Anton 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-2 at No. 2 and Cornelis was a 7-5, 6-2 winner against Malyon at No. 5. Dal Pont rounded out the Lindsey Wilson wins at No. 6 with a 7-5, 7-5 decision against Alberto Diaz.

The Blue Raiders (9-4, 3-0 MSC) got back on the winning side after Southern Indiana snapped a seven-match winning streak on Monday. The Tigers drop to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the MSC.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 1 p.m. CT on March 17 against No. 24 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
