Box Score

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team captured at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title today with an 8-1 win over host University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).

The Blue Raiders improve to 5-0 on the season in conference play with one regular season match remaining against UVa.-Wise on April 7. Lindsey Wilson clinches the top seed in next month's MSC Tournament with today's win.

No. 12-ranked Lindsey Wilson (13-4) took control of the match from the very beginning as the Blue Raiders won all three doubles points to take a 3-0 lead.

Lindsey Wilson's Marlon Dal Pont and Victor Saez got the ball rolling with an 8-4 win in the third-seeded doubles match over Tyler Smith and Daryl MacLeish. The Blue Raider duo improved to 13-1 on the season with the win. They have won six straight doubles matches.

Fabricio Morales and Gilles Cornelis continued their dominance of the opposition with an 8-4 win over Guillermo Alvarez and Jerrid Neeley. Morales and Cornelis are a perfect 14-0 this season as a pair as the No. 2-seeded doubles team.

Fernando Bogajo and Fredrik Graaner completed the Blue Raider sweep with an 8-3 win over Juan de la Llera and Danilo Garcia in the top-seeded doubles match. The win -- their third this season as a pair in as many matches -- propelled the Blue Raiders to the 3-0 lead entering singles play.

It did not take the Blue Raiders long to claim the two points needed in singles play to secure the team win.

Lindsey Wilson's Pablo Vilches won his sixth straight singles match of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Alvarez in the No. 3-seeded singles match. With the win, the Blue Raiders took the 4-0 lead.

Morales -- ranked No. 49 in the nation in singles -- officially closed out the match win with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Garcia. Morales -- who improves to 15-2 this season as the Blue Raiders' second-seeded singles player -- has won 13 straight singles matches.

Despite closing out the win, the remaining matches continued with the Blue Raiders winning at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles. The lone Cumberlands' (5-9, 1-2 MSC) win came in the top-seeded singles match as de la Llera upset No. 7-ranked Bogajo 6-3, 7-5.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson secures its ninth straight MSC regular season title. The Blue Raiders won the title out-right from 2004-10 and shared it with Campbellsville (Ky.) University and Georgetown (Ky.) College last season.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 3, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 5-ranked Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) in Montgomery Ala.
