ROME, Ga. -- Lindsey Wilson College's Kaitlin Allan finished second overall to help the Blue Raiders to a fourth place finish today at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry (Ga.) College.
Allan -- who tied for the tournament's lead with six birdies -- shot the day's best round to climb three spots into the runner-up position. Allan fired a two-over par 74 today to complete the tournament with a two-day total 152 (78-74) -- three shots off the winning score.
No. 22-ranked Lindsey Wilson College slipped one spot to fourth overall with a two-day team-total 654 (326-328) at Coosa Country Club.
Lee (Tenn.) University -- ranked No. 2 in the NAIA -- won the tournament with a 620 (309-311) followed by No. 10-ranked Shorter (Ga.) University's 626 (312-314).
The Blue Raiders ended the tournament with 14 team birdies -- tied with Lee and Shorter for the most -- but had 30 fewer pars than Lee over the two days.
Lindsey Wilson's Paola Gonzalez earned a top-20 finish after completing the tournament with a 163 (79-84). She finished tied for 17th.
Kelsey Joslyn ended in a tie for 21st with a 166 (82-84) while Candace Stacy finished 39th with a 175 (89-86). Jennifer MacKinnon rounded out the Blue Raider quintet with a 179 (87-92).
Shorter's Lisa Persson won the individual title after a 149 (74-75).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Monday, March 12, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Lee (Tenn.) University Spring Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn.
