Women's Golf Takes Second Place at MSC Championship

BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- Kaitlin Allan finished tied for second overall and earned a spot on the All Mid-South Conference Team, but it wasn't enough to lead Lindsey Wilson College past surging Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday in the MSC Women's Golf Championship at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

While the Patriots captured the team championship shooting a 644 (328-316), the Blue Raiders were a distant second, carding a total of 687 (341-346). Lindsey Wilson did top Campbellsville (Ky.) by four strokes, which finished third with a 691 (359-332).

Allan paced Lindsey Wilson with a two-day total of 162 (76-86), while MSC Player of the Year Liz Stephens won the individual title with a 154 (81-73). Allan tied for second with Cumberlands' McKinzie Price.

Leading the tournament field in birdies helped Allan score low, knocking in five total.

The Blue Raiders had just one other golfer finish in the top 10 with Kelsey Joslyn turning in a 170 (85-85) for ninth place.

Jennifer McKinnon finished 13th with a 177 (86-91) and Paola Gonzalez tied for 14th place on a 179 (94-85) to round out the Blue Raider top four.

Maywood played tough on Tuesday with just three rounds coming in under 80. Allan's 76 on day one for Lindsey Wilson was just one of four sub-80 rounds for the championship.

Joslyn, Gonzalez, McKinnon and Candace Stacy all received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors after the final round.

Cristina Jiminez from Cumberlands who carded a 163 (83-80) to finish tied for fourth overall was the MSC Freshman of the Year.
