Box Score WISE, Va. -- Cruising through every match on the day in both singles and doubles, the 12th ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team shutout Virginia-Wise 9-0 and clinched the Mid-South Conference Regular-Season Championship on Saturday at the Jim Hunphreys Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders improve to 14-5 overall and 5-0 in MSC play with the win, while the Cavaliers drop to 2-7 overall and are winless in the MSC at 0-5.
It was a worry-free day for Lindsey Wilson as none of its singles players lost more than a game in a single set.
Doubles went equally as well, with a pair of shutout wins and a lopsided 8-3 decision.
Fernanado Bogajo and Fredrik Graaner posted the 8-3 win at No. 1 against Chase Cupp and Marc Huff.
Fabricio Morales and Gilles Cornelis blanked Zach Holcomb and Nick Autin 8-0 at No. 2 and Victor Saez and Marlon Dal Pont cruised to an 8-0 win against Mark Collins and Jimmy Stewart at No. 3.
Morales finished the first singles match of the day at No. 2, winning 6-0, 6-0 against Cupp, while Bogajo clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Holcomb to register the Blue Raiders' fifth team point.
Cornelis posted the other shutout singles win, topping Austin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
Third-seeded Vilches beat Huff 6-0, 6-1, Saez won at No. 4 seed 6-0, 6-1 against Matt Sisk and Dal Pont tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win against Michael Baker at No. 6.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, April 10 against No. 16 Cumberland (Tenn.) at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
