PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's cross country team opened its 2012 season today in the three-team Shawnee State University Invitational.
The Blue Raiders finished third with a team total of 68 points to finish behind winner and host Shawnee State (16 points) and Campbellsville University (60).
A pair of Blue Raiders earned top-10 finishes in the 38-man field.
Freshman John-Paul Williamson was the top Lindsey Wilson harrier with a time of 27 minutes and 23 seconds over the 8,000-meter course. Williamson's time was good enough for fifth place.
Freshman teammate Garry Korir ended in 10th with a time of 28:28
Shawnee State's Derek Ryan captured the individual title with a time of 26:18.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday, Sept.7 at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
