Newcomer Williamson Leads Men's Cross Country in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI -- Freshman John Williamson led the Lindsey Wilson College men's cross country team Friday with a time of 16 minutes and 21.06 seconds in the Queen City Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati at the Mount Airy Forest.

Williamson's time was good for 23rd place in the 135-harrier field as the Blue Raiders took 10th place as a team with 296 points.

Cedarville (Ohio) finished first with three runners in the top 10 for 47 points, Cincinnati was second with 68 points and Xavier (Ohio) – which had the individual winner – was third with 74 points.

Other Mid-South Conference schools in the mix were Cumberlands (Ky.) taking seventh place, Georgetown (Ky.) in eighth and Campbellsville (Ky.) in ninth.

Behind Williamson for Lindsey Wilson was his classmate Gary Korrir in 52nd place (17:11.36) and newcomer David Lee in 87th place (18:13.19).

Xavier's Thomas Ohlman was the fastest individual with a time of 15:36.23.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 9 a.m. CT on Sept. 15 at the Berea College Invitational in Berea, Ky.
