COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team defeated Asbury University for the 188-52 at Holloway Center Natatorium for their first ever win against the Eagles.
The Blue Raiders are now 2-0 to start the season after defeating Campbellsville and Asbury. It is the second best start to a season as they started 3-0 last year.
Lindsey Wilson won 12 of 14 events as they nearly swept Asbury. Corey Hall, Ryan Leamy and Luke Royal each won two events. Hall won the 100 yard butterfly (55.43), 200 yard butterfly (2:02.87) and was on the 200 freestyle relay team that placed first in a time of 1:33.98. Hall placed second in the 200 yard backstroke (2:13.38).
Leamy won the 1000 yard freestyle (10:43.35) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:12.12) and was also on the 200 yard freestyle relay team. Royal won the 50 yard freestyle (23.63) and the 100 yard freestyle (51.65) and was on the team that won the 200 yard medley relay (1:43.38).
Iker Larzabal won the 200 yard backstroke (2:06.31) and was on the winning 200 yard medley relay team. Jonathan Hindman won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.66 and was on the winning 200 yard medley relay team.
Sam Tate placed first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.46. Tate finished second in the 100 yard freestyle (51.81). Tolga Dogruyol took second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.63), third in the 100 yard freestyle (54.43). Shelby Stevenson took second in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:16.94) and third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:10.99).
