Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Jamie Cummings scored 22 points and shot 12-of-13 from the free throw line to lead Lindsey Wilson to a 85-57 victory over Berea (Ky.) on Tuesday at Biggers Sport Center.
Cummings performance marks her fifth time this season that she has led Lindsey Wilson in scoring. Cummings was a rebound short of a double-double.
The Blue Raiders (11-1, 1-1 MSC) opened the game with a three-pointer from Tara Arnold, who scored a career-high 16 points on the night. Berea would answer with a three of its own from Johnesha Warren, then take its only lead when Anna Loveless made a field goal to make it 5-3.
Lindsey Wilson would respond with a 13-5 run to regain control with a 16-8 lead. Arnold, Candace Foster and Kayla Richardson made two three-pointers each in the opening half. A field-goal by Arnold with 9:16 left in the first gave Lindsey Wilson an 11-point lead, its largest of the half.
Berea struggled from the field, shooting 17.1 percent and making only 2-of-18 three-point attempts. The Mountaineers were able to stay in the game converting 8-of-10 free throws to trail 31-22 heading into the locker room.
Warren put up 16 points and Erika Parks added 14 to pace the Mountaineers, who fall to 5-3. Parks was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
The second half opened with a 18-7 Blue Raider run to push the lead to 49-29. Berea continued to fight, cutting the lead to 12 with 7:48 remaining in the game. On the ensuing possession, Lindsey Wilson used up the entire shot clock as Foster hit a three as the buzzer sounded.
Richardson made her career-high fifth three-pointer with 1:18 left for the final basket of the game to give the Blue Raiders the 85-57 victory, its eighth home win of the season.
Lindsey Wilson scored 30 of its point from the paint and 18 from second chance opportunities. The Blue Raiders held the advantage in rebounding 51-45 and in steals 11-8, while Lindsey Wilson's bench outscored the Mountaineers' 19-12.
Lindsey Wilson finished shooting 85 percent from the free-throw line, including going 16-of-18 in the second half.
Lindsey Wilson hits the road for a pair of games in two days, starting with a 6 p.m. CT game at Spring Hill (Ala.) on Dec. 20. The Blue Raiders then head to Mobile (Ala.) for a 1 p.m. CT contest on Dec. 21.
