Women's Golf Moves Up to Finish Fourth at Berry

ROME, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team shot the second best score of the day to move up and finish fourth at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry (Ga.) Coosa Country Club.

The No. 20-ranked Blue Raiders fired a 320 today and ended the two-day event with a team-total of 643 (323-320). With today's round, Lindsey Wilson moved from fifth after the first round to fourth.

No. 8-ranked Lee (Tenn.) won the team title with a 615 (305-310). NCAA Division II Shorter (Ga.) finished second with a 633 (310-321) and No. 11-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) ended in third with a 636 (310-326).

No. 10-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) finished one place behind the Blue Raiders with a 348 (317-331) in the 12-team field.

Kelsey Joslyn and Kaitlin Allan earned top-15 finishes in the 75-woman field.

Joslyn led the Blue Raiders with a tie for eighth overall after a 156 (74-82). Allan -- playing in her first tournament of the season -- tied for 12th with a 158 after back-to-back 79s.

Lee's Courtney Shelton's 174 (73-74) earned medalist honors with a six stroke victory over her nearest competitor.

Jennifer MacKinnon improved nine spots from yesterday's positioning after shaving four shots off Monday's score. MacKinnon ended the two days with a 164 (84-80) to tie for 23rd.

Sara Kiozumi's moved from 40th into a tie for 25th with a two-round total of 165 (86-79) and Candace Stacy moved up from 50th to a tie for 42nd with a 175 (92-83).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on March 18-19 at the William Carey (Miss.) Invitational at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss.
