BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's golf finished second at the Mid-South Conference Championships today at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.
The Blue Raiders cut into Cumberlands' first-round lead today with the best round of the day, but could not overcome the nine-stroke deficit.
Lindsey Wilson finished with a two-day total 620 (314-306) compared to Cumberlands' 613 (305-308).
The Patriots earned the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Championships in May. Lindsey Wilson must wait to see if it will earn an at-large bid into the national tournament.
Sara Koizumi posted the top round for the Blue Raiders today and tied for the low round of the day with a 1-under par 71. Kiozumi -- who climbed from a tie for 10th to second -- finished behind only medalist Liz Stephens from Cumberlands.
Stephens -- who also shot a 71 today -- fired a two-day total 147 (76-71).
Kaitlin Allan -- who began the day in a tie for first place -- finished third with a 151 (75-76).
Kelsey Joslyn earned a top-10 finish following her 159 (79-80) and Jennifer MacKinnon tied for 11th with a 160 (81-79). Candace Stacy tied for 18th with an 172 (86-86) while Kayla Cordeiro -- playing as an individual -- tied Stacy at 18th with a 172 (83-89).
Cumberland ended in third place with a 639 (318-321) followed by Campbellsville's 669 (339-330), Pikeville's 725 (363-362), Georgetown's 725 (357-368) and St. Catharine's 786 (397-389).
Following the tournament, conference officials announced the all-conference honors.
Kiozumi and MacKinnon each earned their spot on the seven-woman all-conference team.
The all-conference team is based on play during the three conference tournaments -- including the two regular season tournaments -- during the 2012-13 season.
Allan and Joslyn earned honorable mention all-conference.
Stephens and Cumberland's Katie Legge earned MSC Player of the Year honors while UVa.-Wise's Mackenzie Cluesman is the MSC Freshman of the Year. Chris Kraftick was selected by his peers as the Mid-South Women's Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Patriots to the regular season and tournament titles.
Lindsey Wilson will learn if it will make the national tournament field on May 9 when the NAIA releases the national qualifiers.
