LONDON, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team scored a 651(325-326) to finish the Bill Sergent Invitational in third place 36 strokes behind host and team champion University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
Junior Kaitlin Allan was the top golfer for the Blue Raiders carding a 2-over par 75 final round for a total score of 11-over par 157 for the Invitational. She finished tied for seventh position, 10 strokes off Individual medallist Taylor Gillis from the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
Allan started the day tied for 16th position but was able to finish in the top-10 with 14 pars and a birdie on the 17th hole. She had three bogeys on the front nine, giving her a 3-over par 40 as she walked to the 10th tee box. She played the back nine 1-under par with a birdie on the par-4 17th hole.
University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) won the team event with a score of 615(301-314), having four of their five golfers in the top-10.
Lindsey Wilson junior Candace Stacy shot a 10-over par 83 in the final round to finish tied for 16th position with a 15-over par 161. She finished the final round with a two birdies and two par in her last four holes. On the front nine she birdied the par-5 3rd hole.
Blue Raider senior Sara Koizumi shot a 18-over par 164 to finish in the top-20 with an 11-over par 84 final round. She birdied the par-3 6th hole after starting the round with two bogeys over her first three holes.
Freshman Katie Bowling shot a 23-over par 169 after a one stroke improvement from round one. She finished her final round at 11-over par 84. Sophomore Courtney Swindle finished the day in 34th position after shooting a final round 14-over 87.
Lindsey Wilson will travel to Campbellsville, Ky. on September 23-24 for the Don Bishop Invitational at the Campbellsville Country Club.
