CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team shot a 656 (319-337) to finish second at the Don Bishop Invitational, just one stroke behind host Campbellsville (Ky.).
Freshman Katie Bowling led the Blue Raiders carding a 7-over par 79 in both rounds of the invitational for a 14-over par 158. She finished tied for second place, four strokes behind Campbellsville's Cassidy Scantland. Bowling recorded a birdie on the par-4 eighth and again on the par-3 16th in her final round.
Campbellsville won the event with a team score of 655 (325-330) despite having just three golfers finish in the top ten.
University of Pikeville (Ky.) finished in third with a team score of 690 (349-341).
Lindsey Wilson senior Kaitlin Allan shot an eight-over par 80 in the final round to finish in fourth with a 15-over par 159 (79-80). Allan birdied the par-5 seventh and finished with par on four of the last five holes in her final round.
Senior Candace Stacy shot a 167 (78-89) to finish eighth. After a double bogey on the 15th hole, Stacy finished with three straight pars.
Lindsey Wilson finished with 10 birdies during the invitational. Bowling and Stacy each finished with three birdies.
Courtney Swindle finished with a 170 (81-89) finishing in ninth place playing as an individual. She birdied the par-4 eighth and finished with the lowest score for those playing as individuals.
Sara Koizumi shot a final round 89 to finish with a 172 (83-89), tied for 10th.
Amy Brown finished in 19th place with a 178 (88-90).
Lindsey Wilson travels to Georgetown, Ky., for the Mid-South Fall Golf Tournament at Cherry Blossom Golf Club beginning on Sept. 30.
