Women's Basketball Loses Second-Straight Home Game as they Fall to No. 6 Georgetown 80-60

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 6 Georgetown (Ky.) College shot 60 percent from the field in the second half as they defeated Lindsey Wilson women's basketball 80-60 on Sunday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson (14-7, 4-5 MSC) was led by three players scoring in double-figures including Kayla Richardson who had a team high 15 points. Jamie Cummings added 12 points while Bre Elder scored 10.

The Blue Raiders took an early 7-4 lead after a Chanel Roberts field-goal, but the Tigers responded with a 10-0 run to take a 14-7 lead with 12:29 left in the first half.

Lindsey Wilson cut it to 14-12 when Elder hit the first of her two three-point shots but Georgetown was able to respond with a 8-0 run to take a 22-12 lead with 5:33 left in the half. The Blue Raiders would get within seven points at 24-17 after a Richardson three but the Tigers would close the half up 10 points, 33-23.

The Blue Raiders shot 27.6 percent from the field while the Tigers finished the first half shooting 44 percent. Elder led Lindsey Wilson at half with eight points while Andrea Harris finished the half with 11 points for Georgetown.

Lindsey Wilson had no response in the second half as Georgetown expanded their lead to 16 points, 39-23 in the first 1:46. The Tigers continued hitting their shots as they stretched the lead to 21, 46-25, with 15 minutes left in the game.

The Blue Raiders would cut into that lead with a 14-4 run after a Cassidy Martin three to make it 50-39 with 10:41 on the game clock. Georgetown responded to that run with 21-12 stretch to expand their lead to 71-51 with 3:41 left in the game. The teams would trade baskets in the final minutes as the Tigers would maintain its 20 point lead at the end, 80-60.

The Blue Raiders finished the game shooting 21-for-58 (36.2%) while Georgetown finished 29-for-55 (52.7%) which was the difference in the game. Georgetown held a 16-4 advantage on points off turnovers. Kourtney Tyra and Howard had double-doubles for the Tigers. Tyra finished with 14 points and 13 assists while Howard had 20 points and 10 rebounds.
