Men's and Women's Swimming fall to Birmingham-Southern 138-65 on Friday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams lost to Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) 138-65 Friday afternoon at the Holloway Center Natatorium.

On the men's side, Ryan Leamy placed third and Shelby Stevenson placed fourth in the men's 1,000-yard freestyle. Leamy finished in 10:59.37, while Stevenson finished in 11:53.51. Hayden Pendergraft finished first in the men's 200-yard freestyle in 1:33.49 and Jose Prado de Lima placed second with a time of 1:49.02.

Zachary Patzer won the men's 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 23.49.

Prado de Lima earned a national "B" cut in the men's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.55. Prado de Lima also earned a "B" cut in the 50-yard freestyle during the opening leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Iker Larzabal won the men's 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:09.66. Larzabal also placed third in the men's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.82 and Sam Tate placed fifth in a time of 2:11.80.

In the men's 100-yard backstroke event, Gage Setzer finished in second place with a time of 58.71. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Travis Durocher, Tate, Leamy and Larzabal finished third with a time of 1:35.76.

Laura Stephenson led the Blue Raiders on the women's side winning the women's 200-yard individual medley and women's 100-yard butterfly. Stephenson finished the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:16.44 and the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.01.

Courtney Fleeger earned a "B" cut in the women's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.90 and the women's 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:32.78.

The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Fleeger, Stephenson, Elena Nikolaeva and Kelsey Marshall placed second with a time of 1:56.88. Their time was .27 seconds off the first place team of Birmingham-Southern's Erica Dekle, Peyton Langley, Katie Kassis and Kristen Stempak.

Nikolaeva also finished in second with a time of 26.28 in the women's 50-yard freestyle event. Nikolaeva took home an individual title in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.37.

The Blue Raiders return to action Saturday in Williamsburg, Ky., when they face Cumberlands (Ky.) and Bethel (Tenn.) at noon CT.
