Men's and Women's Swimming defeat Bethel

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams each defeated visiting Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon at the Holloway Center Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders' men's team improved its overall dual record to 4-2 while the women's team upped its record to 5-2.

In all, the two Lindsey Wilson teams combined to achieve a total of 11 "A" and "B" national cuts.

In the women's 200-yard medley relay, Natalie Miller, Sarah Wood, Laura Stephenson and Lily Pearson teamed up to finish in 2:09.07 for a national "A" cut. Courtney Fleeger earned a national "B" cut with a 2:05.54 in the women's 200-yard freestyle event.

In the women's 200-yard butterfly, Stephenson clocked in at 2:22.26 to claim a national "B" cut. Stephenson also earned a national "B" cut with a finish of 5:35.26 in the women's 500-yard freestyle.

In the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Kelsey Marshall, Fleeger, Elena Nikolaeva and Stephenson captured a national "A" cut with a finish of 4:00.50. Also, Marshall earned a national "A" cut as an individual with her 100-yard split of 1:02.98.

For the men's team, the 200-yard medley relay group of Hayden Pendergraft, Jonas Muller, Travis Durocher and Sam Tate qualified for a national "A" cut with a time of 1:46.58. Additonally, Pendergraft earned a national "A" cut with a 50-yard split of 27.35.

Josh Lykins recorded a 54.79 in the men's 100-yard butterfly to secure a national "B" cut.

In the final event of the day, the men's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Iker Larzabal, Ryan Leamy, Gage Setzer and Jose Prado de Lima completed the race in 3:29.00 for a national "A" cut. Also, Larzabal earned a national "A" standard with his 100-yard split of 50.94 in the event.

Both Lindsey Wilson teams will race at Asbury (Ky.) on Oct. 31 with the action scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
