Men's Swimming defeats Milligan and Emmanuel, Women's Swimming sweeps Milligan, Emmanuel and Columbia on Saturday

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team won twice while the women's swimming team finished a perfect 3-0 at the dual meets hosted by Milligan (Tenn.) on Saturday.

On the men's side, Lindsey Wilson defeated Milligan 156-28 and Emmanuel (Ga.) 112-93 at the meet.

The Blue Raider women's team completed the perfect weekend sweep, defeating Milligan (104-86), Emmanuel (102-78) and Columbia (S.C.) (115-51).

The men's team saw their first event victory of the day in the men's 1500 meter freestyle as Jose Prado de Lima claimed first place with a time of 17:31.03.

Zachary Patzer won the 50 meter freestyle event with a time of 25.56. He would also finish first in the 100 meter freestyle event with a time of 55.93.

Prado de Lima earned himself a national "B" cut in both the 1500 meters and in the 400 meter freestyle event where he finished second with a time of 4:28.24, just eight seconds behind the top finisher.

Jonas Muller nearly added a victory in the 100 meter breaststroke, finishing in second place by .14 seconds.

The women's team started the day out with a victory in the opening event, the 200 meter medley relay. Elena Nikolaeva, Courtney Fleeger, Laura Stephenson and Sarah Wood combined to finish with a time of 2:09.86, nearly 10 seconds faster than second place.

Stephenson took home an individual first place in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:06.04. She would add another victory in the 400 meter freestyle with a time of 4:55.36, over 15 seconds faster than the next finisher. Her time in the event qualified as a national "B" cut.

Fleeger would win an event of her own, the 100 meter breaststroke, with a time of 1:21.47, earning a national "B" standard along the way.

Both Blue Raider squads return to action on Oct. 10 when they host Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) at 4 p.m. CT.
