Asbury edges Women's Swimming 95-92

WILMORE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's swimming fell just short tonight as host Asbury (Ky.) edged the Blue Raiders 95-92 at the Asbury Natatorium.

The outcome was the closest dual of the season for the Blue Raiders, who falls to 5-3 on the season.

Lindsey Wilson posted five wins, two A Standards and three B Standards towards the NAIA National Championships during the event.

Laura Stephenson led the way for the Blue Raiders with a pair of wins. Stephenson won the 200-yard butterfly and the 500 freestyle in dominating fashion. She won the 200 butterfly by 11 seconds with a time of two minutes and 11.39 seconds. Stephenson added a 14-second win in the 500 freestyle after finishing in 5:34.43. With her times, Stephenson added an A and B cut on Friday.

Courtney Fleeger's time of 2:17.92 in the 200 IM was good enough for a win and a B cut. She added another B cut in the 200 breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 2:36.81.

Elena Nikolaeva added the final individual win of the event, touching the wall first in the 200 backstroke. She posted a time of 2:20.19 to win by 32 seconds.

Lindsey Wilson also captured the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.68. The quartet of Nikolaeva, Fleeger, Stephenson and Kelsey Marshall won the event by two seconds. Their time also produced an A Standard.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 8 as the Blue Raiders travel to Barbourville, Ky. to face host Union (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) in a double dual.
