COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) football outscored visiting Union (Ky.) 28-0 in the second half en route to a 49-10 win today at Blue Raider Stadium.

The Blue Raiders held Union -- the nation's No. 12 scoring offense -- to 27 points and 103 total yards below its season average.

While the defense pitched a second-half shutout, the Blue Raider offense rolled, turning an 11-point halftime lead into a comfortable win on a gloomy, blustery day.

Lindsey Wilson (7-2, 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference East Division) sprinted out to a 21-3 lead thanks to scoring on its first three possessions.

After forcing Union into a three-and-out during the game's first drive, the Blue Raiders marched 57 yards on nine plays for the 7-0 lead. Dakota Brown capped the impressive drive with a one-yard run -- one of a program-record matching six rushing touchdowns on the day.

Following Union's second unsuccessful drive -- a turnover on downs -- Lindsey Wilson drove 72 yards in eight plays for a 14-0 lead. Branden Cresap's 47-yard pass to Josh Noel from midfield proved to be the biggest play of the drive. Josh Haney scored the first of his two rushing touchdowns on the day three plays later to finish the drive.

Cresap finished the game 20-of-30 for 275 yards and one touchdown pass. He added a three-yard rushing touchdown for his fourth rushing score of the season.

Following Alex Sigmon's 38-yard field goal to cut the Union deficit to 14-3, Lindsey Wilson made it three-for-three with an 8-play, 53-yard scoring drive for a 21-3 lead.

Cory Davenport -- who finished with a team-high 58 yards rushing -- scored on an eight-yard run for his second rushing score of the season.

Lindsey Wilson had an opportunity to add to its lead, but the first of two Blue Raider turnovers halted the fourth LWC drive on the Union 37-yard line.

The Bulldogs (1-7, 1-3) took advantage of the Lindsey Wilson miscue scoring their lone touchdown. Union quarterback Chandler Whittlesey was instrumental in the drive, running for 27 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown to get the Bulldogs within 21-10 at the half.

Whittlesey ended the game 10-of-23 for 132 yards through the air and 12 carries for 65 yards and a score on the ground.

In the second half, it was all Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders scored on its second, third, fourth and fifth drives of the half -- all touchdowns. The lone non-scoring drive came on Lindsey Wilson's opening drive of the half that ended on the Union four-yard line with a turnover.

Lindsey Wilson scored on seven of its 10 drives during the game.

Cresap's lone touchdown pass -- his 25th of the season and 97th of his career -- came midway through the third quarter on a beautifully thrown pass to Chaz Barnes in the back of the endzone. Barnes led the team with five catches, including his third score of the season.

Lindsey Wilson went back to the ground game on the final three scores as Cresap, Haney and Jalen Sublett all punched it into the endzone.

The Blue Raiders matched the program record set against Pikeville (Ky.) during the 2012 season with the six rushing touchdowns.

The Lindsey Wilson's defense -- who is allowing just 12.5 points per game during the current four-game winning streak -- finished the game with 3-1/2 sacks and 10-1/2 tackles for a loss while forcing one turnover.

Jeremy Bolden led the defense with a game-high 12 tackles, including one tackle for a loss.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson remains tied atop the Mid-South East standings with No. 5-ranked Georgetown (Ky.).

The Blue Raiders return to action at 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 8 as they travel to Bluefield (Va.).
