Career-high by Roberts not enough as No. 19 Women's Basketball falls 74-54 at No. 17 Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team fell to 17th-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) 74-54 Saturday afternoon at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

Chanel Roberts scored a career-high 27 points in the loss, surpassing her previous high of 26 points last season. She also grabbed seven rebounds on the day. Bre Elder was the lone other Blue Raider to finish in double figures with 12 points.

The game was close at the half, with the Blue Raiders (5-2, 0-2 MSC) trailing by four at 34-30.

Both teams made 12 shots from the field in the opening half, but the Tigers (4-3, 1-3 MSC) made it to the free throw line more often, converting 9-of-12 attempts compared to 4-of-5 attempts for the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson kept it close as the Blue Raiders cut the lead to two points at 37-35, but then the Tigers slowly began pulling away, scoring 10-straight points to lead by 12 with 13:42 to play.

The Tigers led by double digits the rest of the way, eventually building as much as a 23-point lead at the 3:52 mark at 70-47.

Lindsey Wilson struggled in the second half from the floor, shooting just 24.2 percent to bring the game total to 29.0 percent on the day. Georgetown shot 41.5 percent from the field in the win.

The Blue Raiders tallied just three assists all game, which was the second-consecutive game with less than 10 assists. The team also had 11 turnovers on the day.

Jessica Foster led Georgetown with 18 points and Mykal Farris had 13 points.

Lindsey Wilson next squares off with Indiana University Southeast on Monday, Nov. 25 in New Albany, Indiana.
