COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 19-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated visiting Miami (Ohio)-Middletown, 92-63, on Friday night at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (2-0) connected on 39-of-75 shots from the floor (.520) and finished with more assists (19) than turnovers (11). In comparison, the visiting ThunderHawks (0-1) hit 36.4 percent of their field-goal attempts (20-of-55) and ended the night with 22 turnovers versus 15 assists.

In the opening 20 minutes of play, the Blue Raiders led by as many as 17 points with just a shade over four minutes remaining until halftime. Lindsey Wilson hit 19-of-33 shots from the field (.576) during the first half alone, including 5-of-14 three-point attempts.

Coming off the bench for the Blue Raiders, Cassidy Martin made 3-of-6 three-point attempts in the opening half as part of an 11-point performance in that span.

Joining Martin with double-digit points in the first period for Lindsey Wilson was Courtney Sandlin, who converted 5-of-6 field-goal attempts for 10 points. Bre Elder had four assists for the Blue Raiders by half, helping Lindsey Wilson to a 47-34 lead at the break.

Miami-Middletown's Riian McCray-Smith led all players in the opening period with 13 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the floor as well as 5-of-9 from the free-throw line during those first 20 minutes. She also had three steals. Jordan Cochrane scored 12 points as she converted 4-of-4 three-point field goals in the opening half.

The second half saw the Blue Raiders go ahead by as many as 29 points with less than a minute left in regulation.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a 43-to-35 rebounding advantage while the Blue Raider bench outscored Miami-Middletown's reserves by a 43-to-14 margin.

Elder led Lindsey Wilson with 15 points and also had five assists. Joining Elder in double-figure points for the Blue Raiders were Martin (14), Chanel Roberts (11) and Sandlin (10). Billie Hearn, Michelle Montgomery and Kayla Richardson had six rebounds apiece for Lindsey Wilson.

The ThunderHawks managed to get to the free-throw line 23 times in all compared to just 10 free-throw attempts by the Blue Raiders.

McCray-Smith had game-highs with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for Miami-Middletown. In addition to totaling five assists and three steals, she converted 6-of-15 shots from the floor as well as 10-of-13 free-throw attempts. Cochrane hit 8-of-11 shots from the field, including 5-of-6 three-point attempts, on her way to a 21-point performance.

The Blue Raiders will return to the hardwood on Saturday when they host Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) at 5 p.m. CT.
