Men's Swimming splits at Union dual meet

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team finished with 10 national 'A' and 'B' cuts during a dual meet hosted by Union (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon.

Facing the host as well as Campbellsville (Ky.), the Blue Raiders topped Campbellsville, 195-30, but lost to Union by a 129-110 margin.

In the 200-yard medley relay, a pair of Lindsey Wilson relay teams captured national 'A' cuts.

For the 'A' relay, Hayden Pendergraft, Jonas Muller, Travis Durocher and Josh Lykins teamed to finish in 1:42.83, good enough to claim the victory in that event. The 'B' relay, consisting of Sam Tate, Tolga Dogruyol, Gage Setzer and Ryan Leamy, clocked in at 1:48.55.

The 200-yard freestyle event saw another pair of national cuts achieved by the Blue Raiders, this time two 'B' standards.

Iker Larzabal raced a 1:50.20, while Jose Prado de Lima completed the event in 1:51.02, both qualifying for national 'B' cuts.

Competing in tne 100-yard breaststroke, Muller finished in first place in 1:01.13, fast enough for a national 'B' cut.

Prado de Lima earned a national 'B' standard in the men's 100-yard freestyle with a 49.29. Later on, Setzer secured a national 'B' cut in the 200-yard backstroke, making the standard by .05 with his 2:05.19 finish. Muller missed a national 'B' standard in the 200-yard backstroke by only .01 as he clocked in at 2.17.88.

Lykins earned a national 'B' standard in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.54. Joining Lykins with a national 'B' cut of his own in that same event was Prado de Lima, who finished in 54.77.

Setzer was victorious in the 200-yard IM, completing the event in 2:05.86. In the final event of the day, the Blue Raiders' 'A' relay of Larzabal, Leamy, Zachary Patzer and Prado de Lima teamed to race a 3:21.64 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, earning a national 'A' standard in the process.

Lindsey Wilson hosts St. Catharine (Ky.) on Saturday, Nov. 15, with the competition scheduled to start at noon CT.
