PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Lindsey Wilson men's cross country team finished in fourth place with a team total time of 140:35.4 at the Mid-South Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
John-Paul Williamson led the way completing the race in 26.22.8 en route to a fourth-place finish. With his finish, Williamson qualified for the NAIA Cross Country National Championships for the third-consecutive season and earned first team all-conference honors.
Garry Korir was the next Blue Raider to finish, crossing the line in 27:43.9 in 16th place. Korir earned second-team all-conference honors for his finish.
Greg Smithson just missed out on a top-20 finish, taking 21st place with a time of 28:28.3. Clay Priddy took 25th place at 28:51.5, followed closely by Ben Hoffman in 29th place at 29:08.9.
Marcus Terrell finished in 32nd place with a time of 29:32.6 and Cody Hymer crossed the line at 29:45.8 in 34th place.
Shawnee State (Ohio) took home the team championship with a time of 131:38.6, accumulating just 19 team points. Cumberlands (Ky.) finished second with 66 points and a team time of 137:36.8, followed by Campbellsville (Ky.) with 73 points and a time of 137:53.7 in third.
Lindsey Wilson was the final team to accrue less than 100 points, finishing with 95. Fifth-place Georgetown (Ky.) finished with 136 points and a team time of 145:56.9.
Shawnee State's Breydon Gates finished atop the individual leaderboard with a time of 25:59.9. The Bears harriers finished in four of the top five spots, including all seven runners finishing in 11th place or higher.
Williamson now prepares for his third-career trip to the NAIA Cross Country National Championships set to take place on Nov. 22 in Lawrence, Kansas.
