Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team breezed by Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) 88-61 Saturday evening at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (3-0) opened the first half on a 22-8 run. Chanel Roberts connected on a field goal followed by a basket by Bre Elder giving Lindsey Wilson a 26-10 lead with 7:48 remaining in the first half.
Cincinnati Christian (1-3) then went on a 10-2 run, cutting the deficit to eight at 28-20 with 5:25 left in the first half. A three-point field goal by Ashley Johnson gave the Blue Raiders another double-digit lead at 31-20 with four minutes left in the first half.
The Blue Raiders held a 42-26 halftime advantage. The team shot 45.7 percent from the floor in the first half and 41.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Eagles only hit 8-of-20 shots for 40.0 percent in the half.
The Eagles scored five-straight points to spark a comeback to begin the second half, but Roberts and Keosha Wisener helped ignite the Blue Raiders for a 24-9 run to put Lindsey Wilson up 68-44 with 8:31 remaining in the game.
Lindsey Wilson's largest lead was 28 points at 88-60 with 29 seconds left in the game, while Cincinnati Christian's only lead on the night was with 15:57 left in the first half at 5-4.
Five players scored in double-figures for the team led by Roberts' and Cassidy Martin's 15 points. Martin connected on 5-of-6 three-point attempts in the game. Kayla Richardson and Elder each scored 11 points, while Wisener ended the game with 10.
Sydney Mason led the Eagles with 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting and three assists.
Lindsey Wilson shot 51.5 percent from the field for the game, while Cincinnati Christian shot 40.8 percent.
The Blue Raiders scored 32 points off 25 Eagle turnovers on the night. The team also tallied 36 points in the paint compared to the Eagles 22 points.
Lindsey Wilson's next game is Sunday, Nov. 9 against College of St. Joseph (Vt.) at Biggers Sports Center.
