Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. -- Lindsey Wilson women's basketball closed out the 2014 portion of this season's schedule today with a 74-59 win over host Southeastern (Fla.) at The Furnace.
The No. 24-ranked Blue Raiders (11-3) dominated early only to have the host Fire battle back and eventually take a second-half lead. Lindsey Wilson ultimately reclaimed the momentum en route to the 15-point win.
Lindsey Wilson sprinted out of the gate to take a 16-0 lead through the first five minutes. During the span, Southeastern (6-2) missed all six of its shots and committed three turnovers.
The Fire would claw their way back and trailed just 34-30 at the break.
Southeastern carried the momentum into the second half to take its first and only lead (35-34) with a minute gone in the second half. The Fire outscored the Blue Raiders 19-6 over the seven-minute span that covered both halves.
Lindsey Wilson responded with a 17-3 run to push the lead back to double digits (51-38) with 12:33 left in the game.
Southeastern would cut the Blue Raider lead to six (60-54) with six minutes remaining, but that is as close as they would get.
In a game of runs, Lindsey Wilson closed with a 14-5 spurt to win the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
A trio of Blue Raiders scored double figures led by Kayla Richardson's 14 points. Cassidy Martin added 13 and Bre Elder chipped in 10. Southeastern's Alyssa Ramos scored a game-high 16 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Saturday, Jan. 3 as the Blue Raiders host No. 15-ranked MidAmerican Nazarene (Kan.) at Biggers Sports Center.
