Women's Basketball Seals Comeback Win in Overtime, defeats Cumberland 63-60

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Cassidy Martin's 3-point field goal with one minute left in overtime helped lead Lindsey Wilson women's basketball over Cumberland (Tenn.) University, 63-60 at Biggers Sports Center on Thursday night.

Lindsey Wilson's (18-8, 8-6 MSC) Bre Elder tied the game at 54-54 with six seconds left in regulation. The Elder basket capped a 9-3 run for the Blue Raiders in the final 5:11 of regulation. Cumberland's Layce Colter had a chance with one second left on the clock, but the attempt fell short and the game went into overtime.

In overtime, the game was tied twice before Martin hit her three to give the Blue Raiders a 61-60 lead with a minute remaining in the game. Keosha Wisener hit two free-throws to give Lindsey Wilson a 63-60 lead with less than 18 seconds on the clock. TaCouya Allen had a chance to tie it at the buzzer, but her shot missed and Lindsey Wilson won its fourth straight game.

Lindsey Wilson was led by Chanel Roberts who finished with her fourth double-double of her career - 15 points and 10 rebounds. Elder added 14 points and five rebounds while Kayla Richardson gave the Blue Raiders 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Blue Raiders and Bulldogs went back and forth to start the game with the teams trading early leads. The game was tied at 2-2, 12-12 and 14-14 before Cumberland went on a 10-1 run to make it 24-15 with 7:21 left on the clock.

Lindsey Wilson cut the lead to 29-26 after a Wisener hit a field goal with seven seconds left in the half.

The Blue Raiders shot 33.3 percent while Cumberland shot 36.7 percent in the first half. Cummings led Lindsey Wilson with seven rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

Lindsey Wilson used a Richardson 3-point field goal to take a 33-31 lead at the beginning of the second half. The game saw its fourth tie at 33-33 before the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run to take a 40-33 lead with 15:13 left on the clock.

The Blue Raiders continued to battle as Roberts scored five of the next 10 points for Lindsey Wilson to cut the lead to 44-43 with 11:27 left in the game. The Bulldogs would stretch the lead to as many as six with 5:11 left but Lindsey Wilson would battle back yet again to tie the game at 54-54 and send it into overtime.

Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 36.8 percent from the field while Cumberland shot 37.5 percent. Both teams shot 22.2 percent from the 3-point line

Cumberland was led by TaCouya Allen who finished with a double-double - 15 points and 14 rebounds. Calamity Jane Coley added 14 points and four rebounds in the loss.

Lindsey Wilson travels to No. 8 Georgetown (Ky.) College on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. CT.
