Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball shot 65.2 percent in the second half to sink University of Rio Grande (Ohio) 110-80 at Biggers Sports Center on Thursday night.
Lindsey Wilson (19-10, 9-8 MSC) was led by six players in double figures including Tara Arnold who finished the game with a career high 25 points - 3-for-5 from the 3-point line - and seven rebounds. Bre Elder added 18 points while Chanel Roberts and Kayla Richardson both finished with 14 points apiece. Jamie Cummings and Keosha Wisener added 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Blue Raiders fell behind 4-0 in the first 2:30 of the half, but used a 27-7 run to open a 27-11 lead on the Red Storm.
Lindsey Wilson continued to make shots as they stretched the lead to 42-20 with 5:31 left in the half. Arnold scored seven of her 25 points as they outscored Rio Grande 15-9 during that stretch. The Blue Raiders would finish the first half with a 51-35 lead as they shot 51.4 percent from the field. Elder finished the first half with 16 of her 18 points with Roberts and Arnold both grabbing four rebounds apiece.
The Blue Raiders made six of their first seven shots in the second half as they jumped out to a 21 point lead at 58-37. Rio Grande cut the lead to 12 at 71-59 with 11:06 remaining on the clock, but that is as close as they got as the Blue Raiders went on an 11-0 run to take a 82-59 lead with 8:00 minutes left in regulation.
Lindsey Wilson hit the century mark after a three-point play by Cummings to give the Blue Raiders a 100-70 lead with 3:07 left in the game. Lindsey Wilson closed the game out on a 6-2 run to win its 13th home contest of the season, tying the all-time Lindsey Wilson home wins record.
The Blue Raiders shot 56.9 percent from the field while holding the Red Storm to 41.0 percent. Lindsey Wilson out-rebounded Rio Grande 40-31 including a 27-16 advantage on the defensive end. Sarah Bonar led the way for Rio Grande finishing with 17 points and five rebounds.
Lindsey Wilson hosts Shawnee State (Ohio) University on Senior Day as the Blue Raiders play in their final home game of the season on Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
