Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The sixth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated No. 24 Campbellsville (Ky.) 8-1 on Saturday at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (6-1, 2-0 MSC) held the momentum early after capturing all three doubles points to start the day.
Edberg Espinoza and Pablo Vilches were the first to score as they defeated Noah Swencki and Johan Fuzellier 8-2 at the No. 3 doubles position for the 1-0 lead.
Francisco Charters and Fabricio Morales won 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles over Alejandro Soriano and Parker Jones followed by Ignacio Huertas and Raul Mendez winning 8-6 at the No. 1 doubles for the 3-0 lead heading to the singles matches.
Mendez won 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles over Jones and Espinoza won 6-0, 6-4 over Marot at the No. 1 singles to capture the fifth point and mathematically secure the win.
Charters won at the No. 4 position 6-2, 6-0 and Huertas won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles to increase the lead to 7-0.
The lone Campbellsville (6-4, 1-2 MSC) point came at the No. 2 singles when Soriano took down Morales 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
Vilches finished the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 6 singles to bring the score to 8-1 in favor of the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action when they travel to Wilmore, Ky., to take on Asbury University on March 28.
