Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. – No. 6 Lindsey Wilson men's tennis blanked Georgetown (Ky.) 9-0 on Friday in the first Mid-South Conference match of the season.
Fabricio Morales and Francisco Charters earned the first point for the Blue Raiders (4-1, 1-0 MSC) with an 8-2 win over Georgetown's Jacob Loveland and Ryan Simms in the No. 2 doubles position. Edberg Espinoza and Pablo Vliches defeated Chris Bartlett and Josh Clay 8-2 in the No. 3 position. Ignacio Huertas and Raul Mendez took the final doubles point, besting Gustavo Echeverria and Ryne Least 8-4 in No. 1 doubles action.
In singles competition, Morales beat Simms 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 position. Vliches followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Clay in the No. 6 spot, then Charters took down Bartlett in the No. 4 position by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
In the No. 1 position, Espinoza defeated Echeverria 6-2, 6-2. Mendez won the No. 3 position, beating Least 6-0, 6-3, then Huertas concluded the match with a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Loveland in No. 5 play.
The Tigers fall to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference with the loss.
The Blue Raiders return to action March 18 when they host Indiana Tech for a 10 a.m. CT match at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
