Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – No. 2 Lindsey Wilson women's tennis and No. 6 men's tennis defeated Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 5-0 and 9-0 respectively Thursday.
On the women's side, Ana Helena Pinto and Jessica King defeated Laura Ariza and Ashlee Elkins 8-0 at the No. 2 doubles position to earn the first point for the Blue Raiders (10-4). Alejandra Galvis and Alicia Rodriguez earned a second point with an 8-1 decision over Maria Charrys and Victoria Ryjak in No. 1 doubles action.
Lindsey Wilson took the third doubles point and two singles points by default. The RedHawks fall to 5-13 with the loss.
Pablo Vliches and teammate Edberg Espinoza started things off for the men by defeating Salomon Persson and Daniel Emirzian 8-1 in No. 2 doubles play. Francisco Charters and Fabricio Morales, ranked No. 8 in the NAIA at No.1 doubles, earned another point for the Blue Raiders (10-2) with an 8-4 win against Ramiro Vargas and Cristian Arias. Lindsey Wilson took the final doubles point as Raul Mendez and Ignacio Huertes secured an 8-0 victory over Farith Lozano and Gabriel Ajala.
Vliches won a fourth point for the Blue Raiders with a 6-0, 6-1 result against Emirzian in No. 6 singles. No. 18 Espinoza defeated Arias 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot, while No. 43 Morales won at the No. 3 position 6-1, 6-2 over Persson. In No. 1 action, Mendez defeated Vargas 6-1, 6-3. Lindsey Wilson closed out the day as Charters earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lozano in No. 4 singles and Huertas beat Ajala in No. 5 action 6-2, 6-1.
The RedHawks men's team falls to 5-12 with the loss.
The Lindsey Wilson women return to action on April 14 when they play Bluefield (Va.) at neutral-site Georgetown (Ky.), with the match scheduled for a 12 p.m. CT start. The men's team plays at No. 18 Bethel (Tenn.) on April 12 with the match set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
