COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team's comeback attempt fell short today as Campbellsville (Ky.) captured the inaugural President's Cup matches at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders scored 2-1/2 points in today's seven singles matches, succumbing to the visiting Tigers 7-1/2 to 3-1/2 over the two days of match play.

Campbellsville also captured the stroke play event after posting a two-day, team-total 627 (317-310). The Blue Raiders carded a 640 (325-315) over the two days.

Entering today's seven singles matches, the Blue Raiders trailed the visitors 3-1 in match play.

Amy Brown quickly scored her second point in as many days with a 5 & 4 win over Kellimae Polston in the first match to help the Blue Raiders climb within a single point at 3-2.

Campbellsville's Grace Gupton secured a point with a 5 & 4 win over Megan Kriz to give the Tigers the 4-2 lead. Ashley Goodin extended the lead to 5-2 with a 3 & 2 win over Kayla Cordeiro.

Flore De Faveri earned the Blue Raiders a point after winning three of four holes early in the back nine en route to a 2 & 1 win over Anna-Marie Hyatt. The win closed the gap to 5-3.

That would be as close as the Blue Raiders would get.

Lindsey Wilson's Shayna Cockrill and CU's Mikayla Smith halved their match as Smith captured the final hole of the match. Cockrill had won the previous two holes to build a 1-Up lead entering the final hole.

Campbellsville closed out the Blue Raiders by winning the final two matches by identical 1-Up scores for the 7-1/2 - 3-1/2 win.

Cockrill finished as the top Blue Raider golfer in the stroke-play event with a two-day total of 159 (80-79). The Scottsville, Ky., native finished fourth in her first collegiate tournament.

Cordeiro finished one stroke behind Cockrill in fifth with a 160 (80-80).

Hyatt won the individual title with a 155 (79-76).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 4, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Club in London, Ky.
