PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Lindsey Wilson men's cross country team took home second place at the Shawnee State Invitational on Friday at the Earl Thomas Conley Riverside Park.
The Blue Raiders finished with 59 total points and a team time of 2:22:50 in the 8K event.
John-Paul Williamson led the way for Lindsey Wilson after finishing in fifth place with a time of 26:59. Garry Korir just missed out on a top-10 finish after placing 11th with a time of 28:05.
The Blue Raider trio of Greg Smithson, Ben Hoffman and Trevor Shearer finished 19th (29:06), 20th (29:19) and 21st (29:21), respectively. Cody Hymer and Edward Weaver were the final harriers to score points for Lindsey Wilson after finishing with times of 30:05 and 30:07.
It marks the second-straight event the Blue Raiders have finished second to start the 2014 season after also claiming a runner-up finish at the Asbury Invitational.
Host Shawnee State (Ohio) won the team event with 16 points and a total time of 2:14:17. The Bears' Joe Stewart took home the individual title after posting a time of 26:43, just 16 seconds ahead of Williamson's fifth-place finish.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Oct. 4 for the Greater Louisville Classic.
