COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Five turnovers proved too much to overcome for the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) football team today in a 52-48 loss to visiting Reinhardt (Ga.) at Blue Raider Stadium.

Reinhardt's Richard Wilburn intercepted Lindsey Wilson senior quarterback Branden Cresap at the Eagles' 14-yard line with a little more than a minute left in the back-and-forth affair to help secure the win.

The Eagle defense forced a pair of interceptions and covered up three Blue Raider fumbles to finish the game with a plus-four in the all-important turnover battle.

Following the final Lindsey Wilson miscue, Eagles quarterback Jonathon Chamblee found a streaking Sam Jones for 24 yards on 2nd and 7 to move the chains and all but seal the win. The first down enabled Reinhardt to take a knee on three straight plays to improve to 1-1 on the season.

No. 18-ranked Lindsey Wilson falls to 1-1 with the loss.

Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 20-0 lead as Cresap bookended a Jalen Sublett 1-yard rushing touchdown with touchdown passes to Cortez Barber and Josh Haney. Cresap finished the game 30-of-42 passing for a single-game, program-record 490 yards. He also matched his own program-record with five touchdown tosses. Barber finished with eight catches for 128 yards while Haney caught two balls out of the backfield for 45 yards.

Reinhardt roared back with 24 unanswered points to take a 24-20 lead with 3:54 remaining until the break.

L.J. Stegall -- who finished with 18 carries for 146 yards and three touchdowns -- scored from six and 22 yards out to help push the Eagles in front.

Lindsey Wilson responded with a 13-play, 76-yard drive just before the break to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room. Sublett capped off the drive with his second rushing score of the day.

In the early stages of the third quarter, Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to 34-24 as Sublett found the endzone for a third time. The sophomore running back took a screen pass and scampered 22 yards to give the Blue Raiders the 10-point advantage.

Reinhardt responded, scoring on back-to-back drives to reclaim the lead.

Chamblee connected with Jaylen Dodd for a 9-yard touchdown and Stegall raced to his third score of the day on a 32-yard carry to give the Eagles a brief 38-34 lead.

The two teams continued to swap blows as Cresap hooked up with Barber to give Lindsey Wilson the 41-38 lead. Reinhardt answered with a 46-yard touchdown from Chamblee to Jones.

With 5:46 remaining in the game, Cresap completed a 16-yard touchdown toss to Tavis Elzy to give Lindsey Wilson a 48-45 lead -- the Blue Raiders final lead of the game.

Reinhardt methodically marched down the final -- including converting a pair of fourth-down plays -- and capped a 13-play, 71-yard drive with an Ian McIntosh 2-yard touchdown run with 1:35 left in the game for the 52-48 lead.

Lindsey Wilson's last hope looked promising as Cory Davenport returned the kickoff 35 yards to midfield.

But Cresap's jump ball down the near sideline to Chaz Barnes -- who finished with seven catches for 131 yards -- was swiped away by Wilburn.

The offensive show resulted in Reinhardt outgaining the Blue Raiders 627 to 605 in total yards.

The Eagles posted 336 rushing yards while running 92 offensive plays. The Blue Raiders managed 75 plays of offense posting the 490 yards passing and 115 on the ground -- 82 yards coming from Dakota Brown.

A quintet of Lindsey Wilson defenders finished the game with double-digit tackles. Treon Hill and Jordan Elery each had 11 tackles while Alex Abner, Jeremy Bolden and Andrew Wahl all finished with 10.

Chamblee ended the game 9-of-15 for 175 yards and two touchdowns while playing just the second half. Ryan Thompson was 9-of-12 for 116 yards and a touchdown in his half of action.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 13, as the Blue Raiders host Kentucky Wesleyan at Blue Raider Stadium -- part of Homecoming weekend at Lindsey Wilson.
