BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Top-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) football overcame a slow start with six straight touchdowns over the final three quarters en route to a 42-17 win tonight over Union (Ky.) at Williamson Stadium.

Playing for the first time since Sept. 19, the Lindsey Wilson offense sputtered out of the gate resulting in Union handing the Blue Raiders their largest deficit of the season at the end of the first quarter.

An Alex Sigmon 20-yard field goal and Chandler Whittlesey's touchdown toss to Kyle Keplinger in the opening quarter gave the Bulldogs (0-4) a 10-0 lead.

While Union controlled the game's first quarter -- out-gaining the Blue Raiders 104-37 -- Lindsey Wilson dominated the final three to beat the Bulldogs for the fifth straight time, including all three meetings in Barbourville.

Josh Haney scored Lindsey Wilson's first points of the night on a one-yard run with 5:49 left in the half. It was the first of two touchdown runs for Haney, who finished with a game-high 97 yards on 15 carries.

Dylan Beasley connected with Jay Gaudlock in the far corner of the endzone with 10 seconds left until half to give the Blue Raiders a lead they would not relinquish at 14-10.

After surrendering 10-early points, the Lindsey Wilson defense showed over the final three quarters why they are leading the Mid-South Conference in scoring defense. Union, who entered the game averaging nearly 400 yards of total offense per game, was limited to just 33 yards on 12 plays during the second quarter.

The Lindsey Wilson momentum continued in the second half.

Haney, with a one-yard leap, and Zak Mizell, a 15-yard quarterback keeper up the middle, padded the Blue Raider lead at 28-10. The Lindsey Wilson defense, led by Justin Wade's seven tackles and one fumble recovery during the game, forced a pair of turnovers while limiting the Bulldogs to just 66 yards in the third quarter.

Allen Cooks seemingly put the game on ice early in the fourth quarter. Cooks returned a punt 60 yards though traffic for his third punt-return touchdown of the season to give Lindsey Wilson a 35-10 lead.

Jayven Jones capped the 42-point run with a four-yard touchdown gallop with 4:17 left in the game. The Jones touchdown concluded an 11-play, 82-yard scoring drive -- one of three Lindsey Wilson scoring drives that reached double-digit plays on the rainy night.

Union scored a meaningless touchdown in the final two minutes resulting in the 42-17 final.

Lindsey Wilson ended the game rushing for 298 yards. The Blue Raiders out-gained the Bulldogs 468-322 in total offense.

The Blue Raider defense limited the dual-threat Whittlesey to 13-of-27 passing for 158 yards and minus-six yards rushing in the game.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Saturday, Oct. 10, against Cumberlands (Ky.) at Blue Raider Stadium.
