CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pair of Lindsey Wilson cross country student-athletes competed at the Royals Cross Country Challenge NAIA Preview Meet on Friday afternoon hosted by Queens University of Charlotte (N.C.).
John-Paul Williamson finished in 12th place out of 201 runners in the men's competition while Nikki Coffey took 28th place out of 206 competitors in the women's race amongst the top harriers in the NAIA.
Williamson posted a time of 25:23.1 in the 8km race at McAlpine Creek Park, setting a new personal best in the process. The 12th-place finish was the highest of any Mid-South Conference competitor.
Lewis-Clark's (Idaho) Sam Atkin won the men's race with a time of 24:11.4 and Lewis-Clark also took home the top men's team finish.
Coffey finished with a personal-best time of 19:04.4 in the 5km race. Coffey's time was the fourth fastest among competitors from Mid-South Conference institutions.
Shawnee State's (Ohio) Sarah Biehl captured first place in the women's race with a time of 18:07.6 while Aquinas (Mich.) took home the team victory.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Saturday for the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Ky.
