COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team came away with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon as they beat St. Catharine (Ky.) 138-29 and defeated Life (Ga.) 112-65.
Lindsey Wilson captured eight victories out of the 11 events swam on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders started the afternoon in the 200-yard medley relay where the team of Elena Nikolaeva, Caitlin Freeny, Laura Stephenson and Emily Wood won the race with a time of 1:57.19, which hit the NAIA 'A' qualifying standard. The team of Bailey Seitz, Courtney Fleeger, Susan Herrington and Raeanne Spears also hit the 'A' standard with a time of 2:06.89.
Seitz hit her second qualifying mark of the day in the 50-yard freestyle as she posted a time of 26.27, which qualified as a 'B' standard. She also won the race, beating out the next closest swimmer by nearly two seconds.
Stephenson captured her second 'A' standard time after winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.66, which was over five seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She later hit the NAIA 'B' standard in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.09, which also won her the race.
Nikolaeva was the final Blue Raider to hit an individual qualifying standard in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.53, which hit the national 'B' standard.
Lindsey Wilson has now won four-straight dual meets as they move to 6-1 on the season in dual competitions.
Next up, for the Blue Raiders is the Brenau (Ga.) Invitational in Gainesville, Ga., next Friday and Saturday.
