Women's Swimming wins twice on Saturday, defeats Union, Campbellsville

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team grabbed two dual meet victories as they defeated both Union (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) in a tri-dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Holloway Center Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders took down the Bulldogs by a score of 145-97, and defeated the Tigers 167-79 to move to 4-1 in dual competitions on the year.

Lindsey Wilson accumulated seven total event wins on the day. Elena Nikolaeva was stellar in the pool as she accounted for four wins on the day, including three individual victories.

She began with a win as part of the 200-yard medley relay team along with Caitlin Freeny, Laura Stephenson and Bailey Setiz. The quartet swam a 1:55.99 to achieve a national 'A' relay standard and win the event by over four seconds.

Nikolaeva grabbed her first individual win in the 100-yard backstroke as she finished with a time of 1:02.22, which was good enough for a national 'A' standard. She then won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.81m hitting a 'B' standard. Nikolaeva completed the hat trick of individual wins with a victory in the 400-yard individual medley as she topped the competition with a time of 5:03.66, grabbing another 'B' standard in the process.

Stephenson also won a pair of events, placing first in the 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly, to go along with her win on the 200 medley relay squad. Both times in the butterfly events were good enough for 'A' standards.

Emil Wood was the final Blue Raider to garner an individual event win as she took home the victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:15.70. Wood picked up a 'B cut of her own in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second overall in the event that featured nine swimmers. She then added an 'A' cut to her day as she finished as the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle, falling behind the event winner by just .16 seconds.

The day came to a close as Wood, Freeny, Courtney Fleeger and Dana Kaftan finished in second place in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:48.16, hitting a national 'A' cut.

Up next for the Blue Raiders is another home tri-dual meet as they host Life (Ga.) and St. Catharine (Ky.) on Nov. 14.
