Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team closed out their 10-game home stand with a 98-63 victory over Hiwassee (Tenn.) on Monday night.
Billie Hearn led Lindsey Wilson (9-2) with a career-high 15 points, while Chanel Roberts had 13 points. The remaining three starters all hit double figures, while Courtney Sandlin had 11 points off the bench.
Lindsey Wilson got off to a strong start as they scored the first eight points of the game to take the 8-0 lead with 7:08 to play in the first quarter. After Hiwassee (1-11) made it 13-8 with 4:36 left in the opening quarter, the Blue Raiders went on a 7-0 run to take their largest lead of the quarter at 20-8. Lindsey Wilson sustained their 12-point as they led 25-13 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Lindsey Wilson started to stretch their lead as they went on a 17-3 run to start the period and take a 42-16 lead with 5:17 to go after Malerie Martin blocked a three-point attempt from the Tigers and took it the other way for a fast break layup. The largest lead of the first half for the Blue Raiders came at 2:08 mark of the second quarter as they took a 55-22 lead after Heidi Huffman knocked down a three-pointer. At the half, Lindsey Wilson led 60-30.
The Blue Raiders shot 59 percent from the floor in the first half, while going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. Hiwassee was held to 38.7 percent shooting for the half, and was 6-for-13 from the three-point line.
To start the third quarter, Lindsey Wilson went on a 14-2 run over the first 4:42 of the quarter to take their largest lead of the game, 74-32. The Tigers countered with 13-2 run to close out the third quarter as they cut into the Blue Raider lead, 76-45, heading into the fourth quarter.
Both teams traded baskets to start the fourth quarter, as Hiwassee cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 28 points with 7:49 left in the game. The Blue Raiders tried to extend their lead once again as they took a 92-57 lead with 4:33 to play in regulation, but Hiwassee continued to counter as Lindsey Wilson's largest lead for the remainder of the game was 35 points. The Blue Raiders went on to win the game, 98-63.
Lindsey Wilson shot 52.1 percent from the field, while holding the Tigers to 37.7 percent shooting for the game.
Martin (10), Teanna Curry (11) and Kayla Richardson (11) all ended up in double figures on the night.
The Blue Raiders close out their 10-game home stand with a record of 9-1.
