Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis played a near-perfect match today in a 9-0 win over host Brescia (Ky.) at Moreland Park.
The Blue Raiders (1-1) dropped just four games in three doubles matches and 12 games in the six singles matches en route to the sweep.
Lindsey Wilson sprinted out of the gate taking all three doubles points in the Blue Raiders first NAIA match of the season.
Edberg Espinoza and Francisco Charters -- ranked as the NAIA's No. 6-ranked doubles team -- collected the first point of the day with an 8-2 win over Brad Dunn and Tom Roidl in the top doubles match.
Ignacio Huertas and Pablo Vilches quickly followed with an 8-0 sweep of Turilo Duck and Joshua Ackermann in the third-seeded doubles for the 2-0 lead.
Denis Porcic and Raul Mendez completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over Gustavo Carvalho and Fernando Garcia in No. 2 doubles.
While Lindsey Wilson won all six singles matches, it was Mendez and Porcic that claimed the decisive points.
Mendez poured it on in the third-seeded singles, dropping just one game in a straight-sets win to give the Blue Raiders the 4-0 lead. Porcic claimed the game-winning point with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Garcia in the No. 2-seeded singles match.
The Blue Raiders continued to dominate the remainder of the matches, winning each match in straight sets.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 11, as the Blue Raiders travel to Union (Ky.) in Barbourville, Ky.
