Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team recorded its third-straight shutout of the season and ninth-consecutive win by defeating Georgetown (Ky.) 9-0 Monday afternoon at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (11-2, 3-0 MSC) have now posted eight 9-0 victories this season.
Lindsey Wilson seized control early by sweeping all three doubles matches.
Edberg Espinoza and Francisco Charters, who rank No. 4 as a doubles pairing, teamed up to defeat the Tigers' (3-8, 0-4) Ryan Simms and Austin Colliver 8-1 at the top doubles position. Ignacio Huertas and Pablo Vilches then shut out A.J. Berk and Daniel Orr 8-0 at the No. 3 position, while Denis Porcic and Raul Mendez defeated Tristan Nosek and Chris Bartlett 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles match.
Mendez started singles competition by posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over Chris Bartlett at the No. 3 position, followed by No. 27-ranked Porcic's decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory over Nosek in the No. 2 singles match.
Lindsey Wilson continued its dominance as fourth-ranked Espinoza defeated Simms 6-0, 6-2 in the top singles position. Huertas was then victorious over Colliver 6-1, 6-1 to give the Blue Raiders a 7-0 match lead.
No. 32 Charters and Vilches closed out the match each with 6-0, 6-0 shutouts over Josh Clay and Ryan Abell, respectively.
