Women's Golf closes out in fifth at Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament following the final round on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders concluded the two-day event with a 682 (334-348). Lindsey Wilson wrapped up play a stroke ahead of Cumberland (Tenn.) and five strokes behind Pikeville (Ky.).

On the final day at StoneCrest Golf Course, Cristina Jimenez shot a second-round 84 to end with a two-round total of 160 (76-84). That tied her for eighth among in the 51-person field, the top finish for a Lindsey Wilson golfer. Additionally, Jimenez tied for the most birdies during the tournament with five.

Megan Kriz finished in 14th with a 171 (81-90); Courtney Swindle tied for 25th at 174 (89-85); Amy Brown was 31st with a 178 (89-89) and Kayla Cordeiro tied for 32th at 179 (88-91). Swindle also tied teammate Shayna Cockrill for the most pars by a Blue Raider golfer with 17.

Competing as an individual, Cockrill shot a second-round 82 to close out with a two-round score of 162 (80-82), which placed her in a tie for 11th.

No. 14-ranked Indiana Tech won the team title with a two-round total of 631 (313-318). Rounding out the top three were No. 7 Cumberlands (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.).

Indiana Tech's Wiebke Schlender and Cumberlands' Bri-anne Tokariwski tied one another for the top individual score with identical two-round 5-over par 149s (74-75), and Schlender ended up earning the individual victory in a playoff.

The Blue Raiders compete next at the Cumberland University Bulldog Invitational on April 13-14 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.
